there are alot of widgets

some are used to have fun and some are just practical

my fav one is th email checker

it tells you how many emails you have

they are these pointless things that yahoo provides

the only real way to know what they are is to download some

On www.apple.com, on the downloads, there are a whole bunch of 'widgets' for your 'dashboard'. Can you download these widgets onto the iPhone? Because if I am going to download apps to the iPhone then I think I would want to do it from apple.com directly.

I am confused about downloading widgets onto iPhone...?
The only things you can put on your iPhone are media files and illegal unlocking apps. No widgets. Sorry.

I became suspicious when I kept seeing the same entries at the top of the Planet Yahoo Blog, all from the Y! Widgets Blog. Sure enough, when I click on the Widgets Blog, those entries are from May, even though Planet Yahoo! gives them the most recent possible date in its listing. It's as if, anytime one of the official Yahoo! Blogs gets updated, Y! Widgets is assigned it's posting date over in Planet Yahoo!, hence the Widgets blog entries ascend to the top again.

Can someone fix this bug?

in the dashboard you can click on the plus sign down in the bottom right hand corner and then close widgets that you don't want to use. If you want to remove a widget from your computer just search in spotlight for the word "widgets" and you'll find a folder, and then just click and drag unwanted widgets to the trash. If dashboard makes your computer run slower than you can get a widget to stop dashboard, it will shut it down and it will stop running until you turn it on again. It is pretty cool.

i have a mac and my widgets icon on the dock i dont no what happened to it i dont no how to get it back and i checked to see if apple had a download for it and i didnt see one does neone no how i can get it back or is there a download?

You probably just accidently dragged the icon out of the dock. I've done it before too. To get it back, go to the blue spotlight/magnifying glass button in the upper right-hand screen and type in 'dashboard'. Once it shows up, open the application. It should show up on the dock. Once it's in the dock, press control (ctrl) and click on the picture. A menu should pop up and one option will say 'keep in dock'. Press on that and it'll solve your problem. Also, on my Mac, if I press the F8 button,my widgets will show up. Hope this helps!
Reply:You are looking for the Dashboard application which is located in the Applications folder with all the other Applications. Just drag the Dashboard icon onto your Dock.

Usually the widgets are in Dashboard, which is also in the dock.
Reply:Maybe you don't have any widgets open? When you hit f12, there is a little plus symbol (+) in the bottom left. Press that to get access to all your widgets. Did you restore your system recently? I don't know if that could cause this, but once I restored my system, and now I can't get Front Row to work anymore. But my widgets still work. Maybe you are just having a different result of restoring your Mac.

Widgets are cool to have. Must be about 1,000 of them. You really have a big choice, yahoo widgets come with probably what you are looking for.

I have the weather, clock, stick notes, calendar, and a CPU/Ram meter. That is all I use.

Widgets don't use that much Ram.

You can also, put them behind your main screen, like a phone, Ipod, and lots of others.
Reply:Well that depend on what type of widget you want or on what topic. Mostly Widgets don't use much memory but if you place a dozen widgets on your desktop than sure you will experience slow speed.
Reply:the original widget program was called Konfabulator. Yahoo purchased the company, so IIRC it's called Yahoo! Widgets (do a google search for Konfabulator, I'm sure it'll point you in the right place). Remember, the more widgets you run, the more your memory gets used up.

You might consider bumping up that 512 to a gig or more. XP runs much better at a gig or more of RAM.

I recently installed the new yahoo widgets from yahoo directly. My norton antivirus is telling me that a virus named "virus burst" is in the unistall.exe file. Is this a virus or spyware?

There was a false-positive issue with the new virus definitions Symantec issued for their security products (both under the Symantec and Norton brands) this weekend. This issue incorrectly identifies Yahoo! and other legitimate software as malware. We have been in touch with Symantec and there should be a fix shortly.

After i downloaded the widgets off of yahoo, it reads them as not being able to be read, so i figure i could rename it with the .exe extension. It shows up as a program, but when i click on it, a screen shows up and just disappears, and nothing happens. Did i use the wrong extension, or do i need something before i can use them.

First a question, do you have the Yahoo widgets Engine installed ?

If not you will need to install that in order to use the widgets as they are written for the engine and are not native windows apps in and of themselves so simply renaming them to .exe will not make them work.

If you do have the Widgets engine Installed then you should try uninstalling it then re-installing it to see if that fixes the problem, in some cases to get it to install properly will require you to empty the Temp folders, if so e-mail me and I will tell you how to do this. fsebentley@direcway.com

Go to View on your IE taskbar. Then click on too toolbars; check to see which toolbars you have checked off (any checked will show). Aso check your explore bar under View; this will show your main options for the IE taskbar. If this does not help, then try the following.

Click Tools on your IE taskbar. Then click Manage Ad-ons; from here...you can take it from there. If this does not help, then check the Yahoo! Services option under Tools in your IE taskbar.

If all of these options fail, then just contact Yahoo!'s customer service.

I keep getting an error when I use this program. Ive been using it for a few days withiout a problem but when I woke up today and switched on my computer, I noticed that the windows error screen came up and it was for the yahoo widgets. It was just the standard error screen that asks me if i was to send info the microsoft or not. Ummm, can anyone speculate as to what might be the reason for it crashing everytime I start the program now?

I just got a mac that I don't know how to use very well. I downloaded some widgets (not knowing 100% what they were) and am now having trouble removing them from my computer and my dashboard. Please help me figure out how to delete them! I tried to delete the files but it didn't seem to work; they still pop up when my dashboard opens. And my computer said that it couldn't delete one of the widgets because the item sw.jar is still in use. Please help me get this junk off of my brand new computer!

To uninstall Yahoo! Widgets, go to the Start menu, select "Control Panel," then go to Classic View and select "Add/Remove Programs." Wait for a moment while Windows populates the list, then scroll to the bottom where Yahoo! Widgets is. Then just select it and hit the button.

I've got quite a few yahoo widgets and I've never seen one for a guitar. you can go to their widget site and look for one I might have missed it, they have quite a few to choose from. You can even suggest that someone build a widget like the one you want. If you don't have the widget engine you'll have to download it, it's free.

That's just what happens when you do that. It's how you remove items from your dashboard.

To get them back, just open your Applications file and drag the icon for whatever program you want to the dashboard.Or if you have an application open, open applications always appear at the end of the dashboard. Just drag it anyplace else in your dashboard and it will stay there. Unless of course you don't want it there and poof, it's gone.

It uses up some memory, but not very much.

Both of those transformation packs includes windows vista sidebar which has gadgets. In mac, widgets, in windows, gadgets. It's more easy to use both of them but i prefer to Yahoo! Widgets.

i have two email accounts at yahoo mail.

i installed the yahoo widgets application.

it works fine.

i downloaded and installed the widget "yahoo mail checker" and configured it for the first email account.

when i download it a second time for the second email account i get a question window asking me whether i want to replace the existing one. the only options are "yes" and "no".

choosing "no" only cancels the installation. it does not add a second widget. How can i have two parallel "yahoo mail checker" widgets working the same time for the different email accounts?

I love Widgets but I deleted my mail widgets and can not fine how to install it back into my PC. So I thought that I would uninstall all of Yahoo Widgets and start over..But I can not find yahoo in my programs to Delete it. Where do I look on my PC so I can start fresh with a new yahoo Widgets

To get to that area, enter the following path:

• C:\Documents and Settings\YOURname\Local Settings\Application Data\Yahoo\Widget Engine\Widget Data

If so you can delete the Widgets' data folders.

If you bought an unused computer, then it should have asked you if you wanted to activate the Acer Empowering Technology toolbar. There's probably a way to set it up after this, but not that i know of. I have te toolbar and I don't find it helpful, but if you really want it use the Microsoft online help, it was wonderful.

I prefer closing all running applications before shutting down my computer. If something is trying to run and access a program at the same time you are shutting down, you can run the risk of corruption. I'm not familiar with yahoo widgets but if you go to Task Mgr, is it in the application list? Hope this helps and good luck.

I had Y! Widgets on my lappy before I had to get it restored, and the dock worked fine. But now, after I got it restored, the iTunes Remote is being stupid. Right when I start up iTunes and my widgets are up, and I play a song, It stays the same song on the dock for every song. What do I need to do to fix this? Remove and re install?

widgets is a very powerful program, it takes up alot of harddrive and memory

if your computer doesnt have a alot of free space your widgets will mess up alot

try deleting some unnessisarry programs off of your computer and then doing a diskclean up and a defrag

I just suggest investing in a nice iMac or Mac Mini. Mac OS X has a lot of features that Windows XP doesn't, and has for a while.

but some computer come with more memory than others, and widgets take up alot of space on your memory

so if you dont have a computer with alot of memory you might not want to download it

try doing a defrag and restarting your computer to get it to work

Please help? I don't know what I am doing wrong but I have installed widgets plugin in the plugin folder as well as the scriptaculous files in the appropriate folder as specified by the instructions. I have activated the plugin and I am using a compatible theme. I do see the sidebar widgets menu in presentation, but when I do drag some stuff in the sidebars, save it, and then check out the site, I do not see any changes. It's like I changed nothing.

Help someone. I don't know what else to do.

You can installed in any drive but in order to run it will still have to have access to "C". But if you want to change soamething u should be able to righ-click on the Icon and simply choose send to, or you can cut and past somewhere else, but whatever u do it will still use "c Drive" :)

I'm using Mac OS 10.4 and Firefox 2.0.0.3 (I can't upgrade my software because I'm using a restricted laptop) and one thing that is bothering me is the widgets (check boxes, radio buttons, etc)

Is there a way to make the widgets fully native, in other words, make the widgets look the way they do in Safari? (I don't use Safari because this MacBook has Safari 2, which is old, and it crashes and has lots of other problems)

I'm sorry... I looked for some screenshots for about 20 minutes but I couldn't find any :( If I find some I'll add them.

I have a personal laptop which runs on Windows Vista and a company-owned laptop which runs on XP Professional. Both have Yahoo Widgets installed. When I tried to update to the latest version of the Widget engine I found I had to uninstall the old version in order to upgrade to the new version. I thought upgrades should write over the current version, but Yahoo apparently thinks otherwise. Is there any way to upgrade the Widget engine other than uninstalling the old version?

I recently discovered mybloglog.com and it has widgets for your blog. The one I use is to find out where the traffic is coming from to my site. So you may want to check it out.

You can use the full version for free for 3 days, then they want $3 a month to continue using the full service, but you can still use it for free, you just have downgrades services, but it still does everything I need.

My blog is listed on my profile, but I don't think you can see any widgety stuff there. LOL

Locate the Widget Engine Icon on the Notification Area.

The Notification Area is on the taskbar where you usually see the current time displayed.

Click on the Widget Engine Icon.

Click on Open Widget

The path should default to the widget directory, which is:

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR Username\My Documents\My Widgets

Locate the Widget and Open

When you open the Widget

Right-Click on the Widget Program Icon.

Click on the Widget Preferences.

Review the options and/or information

I upgraded to a newer version of Yahoo Widgets and it is giving me this error message: "YahooWidgets.exe - Entry Point Not Found...The procedure entry point JS_Has Property could not be located in the dynamic link library js32.dll." I had the same problem. I just did a complete un-install of the widget engine and then re-insalled it. That did the trick.

When I try to open my widgets my computer doesn't recognize the file type. And when I got to try and tell it that the Widget Engine should open it it doesn't accept it. How do I get my Widgets to work?

My computer wont recognize my Widgets.?

I have no problems downloading user created widgets for the program but I cannot run Yahoo! widgets such as address book, calendar, search bar, etc.

I get the error message: Could not open Widget....

It either isn't a widget or you don't have access to that file. OpenWidget: Path is Invalid.

Does anyone have a solution?

It may not be that you can't download them in your system. You probaby could, but it may not be something on your end. It could be that the path to that widget is incorrect, thus, making it invalid to download. If the filepath is incorrect, it won't download. The creator of the widget would have to correct or amend the filepath name in order for it to work.

yes it is free, and the only thing it will do is take up a tiny amount of storage on your computer. It won't harm your computer in any way.

Hi,

After doing the windows update on my laptop I lost all the programs from my start bar, and when I go to add or pin them they still don't appear. My widgets are also gone, I went to open the sidebar and they all came back as they should but when I restarted they didn't come up again like usual, and my IE went back to the default settings. I tried to put the yahoo toolbar back on and the links back on as it used to be and I set it to lock the toolbars, but when I close explorer and open it back up it still goes back to default.

Somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong!!! And btw I'm using vista home prem., and please don't tell me Vista sucks, cus I hear that too much!!!

Try to restore windows.

Go to start %26gt;%26gt; programs %26gt;%26gt; acessories %26gt;%26gt; system tools %26gt;%26gt; system restore %26gt;%26gt; select a date that has a restore point and try to restore your system settings

Afta applyin' my yahoo widgets on the desktop, I right clicked on it and chose "widget preferences" then in window option i chose the "floating" level in the "level of the window"... since then i cant do anything with those widgets.. cant change their settings and cant even move or close them.... plz help... How to disable that FLOATING level of window??

press F8 on the keyboard, that brings up the Widget "control panel", then you can right click and change settings on Widgets.

Right click the Widget Engine in your System Tray

Choose Widget Preferences and select the Widget you made Floating.

Change the Preference from Floating to Normal.

F8 (default) will show the Widget Heads-up Display but I can't see any way that you can do stuff from there (I didn't look too hard but a right click just seems to close it!)

My browser works just fine, but widgets can't connect. Already checked with my firewalls and put widgets on the exceptions list. Is there a possibility that this issue has to do with my adsl moden. (i have a gateway)

If everything is working fine, than it's a problem with your widgets. I've had some problems with certain widgets. Have you put widgets on the exceptions list in your anti-virus, spy-ware, or ad-ware programs too?

It's probably not your modem. If you use a router, maybe it could interfere; because most routers act as and extra firewall. You can change this though, when installing, or through your address bar by putting in the numbers and then pressing enter. The numbers for my belkin router and probably most are: 192.168.2.1, then I press enter and router options come out.

When I had widget problems in the past, that wouldn't go away; I usually would do a complete widget removal and redownload them again. Make sure you write down the widgets you enjoy using, so you can refer back to them. You don't want to have to do so much searching, I'm sure.

Some widgets, either need to be upgraded, or fully completed to work well. In some cases, beta widgets can be a problem. I've had problems with downloaded beta programs.

Keep your system clean. Defragment, clear history, scan for viruses/spyware/adware etc. etc.

You should give ccleaner and hd cleaner a try!

Also, Advanced WindowsCare. They help clean up the registry too.

If all else fails, try widgets from other sites.

I haven't seen any notable change in the performance of my computer with and without Yahoo widgets....but I believe that having less number of applications running do improve the system performance.
