Why does my Yahoo Widgets encounter a problem and needs to close?

Everytime I try to open my Yahoo! Widgets 4, an error message appears and tells me, "Yahoo! Widgets has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Does anyone else have this problem? I've installed and uninstalled Widgets multiple times and I still have the same problem. When I first installed Widgets in May, it was working fine. Now, though, I have this message. I have much free space on my computer, so I don't think it is a space problem.

Any feedback would be great appreciated.

Why does my Yahoo Widgets encounter a problem and needs to close?
The registry files for the Yahoo! Widgets may have been corrupted. Sometimes, even when one uninstalls a program, a few original registry files for the software remain on the computer...these files usually cause problems because they are unwarranted and try to run with the other registry files of the same newly re-installed program. Your original Yahoo! Widgets programs may have gotten corrupted and when you uninstalled them the first time, some registry files remained. These could cause the Yahoo! Widgets to never properly work again.

Here is how you can end your problem:

First, uninstall the Yahoo! Widgets from your computer, then do the following to delete any of the left over registry files from Yahoo! Widgets.

To delete these corrupted registry files, do the following:

Click Start on your computer's desktop.

Click Run.

Then type this in: regedit

Hit enter.

A box should pop up; this contains all of the registry files of your computer...be careful, deleting the wrong ones could cause a total crash of your computer.

In this box, click edit.

Then click Find, at the bottom.

Type in yahoo, or widgets, or Yahoo widgets. (try with and without spaces)

When the search finds files containing anything with yahoo widgets and/or widgets in the name, right click the corresponding name on left of the discovered file. From here, click delete.

Then, after all of the registry files of Yahoo! Widgets are deleted, re-install the Yahoo! Widgets.

Your problem should be taken care of.

If your problem continues to persist, contact Yahoo!'s customer support.

Hope this helps!
Reply:i experianced that same problem... and there is nothing that u can do. so all i did was stopped using the yahoo widgets.
Reply:hi...

alas.. i found the problem and also found the solution...

the problem is that the installation has corrupted entries.

u may also get this error "R6002 - Floating point not loaded"

Solution:

just open task manager and close all instances of yahoo widgets by end task.. now open

c:\program files\yahoo!\

and then renamed the widgets folder or u may even delete that folder.

now install the widgets then it wil work fine...

hope this solution fixed ur problem...
