Will Opera Widgets Slowdown stuff?

hi

i just installed Opera Browser..its awesome!

u really notice a speed increase

ok this is it: my PC is pretty slow but not the internet speed

everything ok now with opera i remember i installed firefox and it was slower than with IE (*in my low spec PC*)

Opera is right now, the thing is Widgets: r cool but will they slow down web pages browsing i mean in tech terms not internet speed thats impossible i mean with my low end PC will widgets on while browsing affect speed/loads

if so, i just can deactivate them right?

i say this cuz firefox had plenty of stuff addons and so and i guess thats what made surfing slower here

Will Opera Widgets Slowdown stuff?
Yes, opening widgets can slow down your overall browsing performance especially since you're on a slow PC(mainly because of slow CPU and RAM ) , because naturally widgets do take up memory, like how extensions in firefox when enabled take up memory. And its a fact that webpages load faster when you have more RAM. The processor speed and its L2 cache doesn't have any effect on the browsing, but RAM surely does...so opening widgets on your slower PC will lead to a sluggish performance by Opera. You can see this yourself, while in opera, open the task manager and see the memory Opera.exe consumes. Now start up a widget, and check back the memory usage, and you'll notice the widget has increased opera's memory usage. And, just like some extensions in firefox, some widgets in opera too can have memory leak bugs!

But of course you can close the widgets which you don't want open. Just right click on them and click 'close' . This will free up some memory which was used by the widget, however it can take sometime before the memory usage goes back to 'normal'. Restarting Opera after closing all the widgets can help it consume less memory with immediate effect.

Have fun, Opera is a great browser.
